KIDS IN THE BACKYARD:

Check this Pinterest Link for some Kids in the Backyard Games to make outdoor time fun!

OTHER ONLINE PLATFORMS:

Check Facebook Pages from your local gym instructors and see what they are offering.  Some are free and some have low enrollment fees but all can offer you ways to exercise in your own home.

I heard that Beachbody On Demand is offering is offering Beachbody Kids Workouts for free right now too.

OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

BACKYARD FUN:

If you have a backyard dig out a ball or two and play catch or kick it to each other.  What other backyard games might you have? Frisbee? Bean bag toss? Or make up your own like kick the can in the front yard, or knock the cans over with a baseball.

Exercise relieves stress, improves memory, helps you sleep better, boosts your mood and keeps you healthy!

Your kids don't need to be sporty to be active. Use some of these ideas to help your family when Social Distancing.

FAMILY WALK:

A short walk aorund the neighbourhood or on a little nature hike will get your legs moving and fill your lungs with fresh air. Make a scavenger hunt out of it to keep kids occupied.

If the paths are full though, don't go! Social Distancing is the key!

I will try to make a printable soon to post it here!

I'll post more when I find more! Or let me know on Social Media if you've found something that your family loves!

SIDEWALK CHALK GAMES:

SIMON SAYS:

With chalk draw out a circle with coloured sections (We had seven colours of chalk so that's what we drew).

Player one stands in the center of the "game board".  Someone else is the caller who shouts out a colour.   Player one jumps to that colour and then back to the center.  The caller says the first colour and adds another ("red, yellow").  Player One now jumps to the first color (red), then the next color (yellow) and then back to the center.  Keep adding one color until you have 6-8 in the sequence. The round ends when Player One completes the entire sequence, can no longer remember the pattern, or misses a colour block.  Then it's someone else's turn to jump.

FAMILY BIKE RIDE:

There is still too much snow where we live but if you are in warmer climes a bike ride keeps you well away from others as you exercise, get fresh air and see the beauty of nature around you.  Review Bike Safety with the family before you head out.

BACKYARD OBSTACLE COURSE:

Create an obstacle course for your kids and time them to see how long it takes to complete.  Then you time then again to see if they can beat their time!

YOU TUBE VIDEOS:

Technology is a wonderful thing! And there are so many generous people out there who have provided free exercises videos for us on You Tube.  Search around until you find something that suits your family and ages.
